OUR HISTORY
Junior Chamber International Bayan was incepted in January 1992 by Charter President Danny Chew and his team. The first Annual General Meeting (AGM) was convened on 23rd February 1992 with the election of the Executive Board of Directors.
Junior Chamber International Bayan was officially affiliated to Junior Chamber International Malaysia on 18th April 1992 during the National Board Meeting in Sibu, Sarawak.
THE LOGO
The Bayan Nuri, an indigenous Malaysian long-tailed parakeet was adopted as the official mascot of Junior Chamber International Bayan. This beautiful parakeet is incorporated into the logo of the chapter which has a double shield image. The logo depicts the Bayan Nuri in full flight motion upwards with its claws outstretched; symbolically showing the Local Organization soaring to greater heights of endeavour in the four areas of opportunities Jaycees namely, individual development, management, community development and internationalism.
the revival
In 2017, a group of youth came together to revive the local organization after being inactive for 5 years. An Interim Team was established on 7
th September 2017 through an Extraordinary General Meeting. With a span of 2 months, the Interim Team managed to get together the revival documentations and successfully convene the Annual General Meeting on the 7
th November 2017 and a 2018 Junior Chamber International Bayan Board of Directors were elected. Soon after, JCI Bayan is filled with empowered and insightful activities
throughout the year with active participation from our members.
